The Orange County Mosquito and Vector Control District (OCMVCD) has notified the City of Fullerton about an increased risk of flea-borne typhus in certain areas of the city. While the risk remains low for most residents, OCMVCD is taking precautionary measures to help reduce the potential for exposure.

As part of their public health response, OCMVCD will be posting signs and distributing informational materials in multiple languages to help raise awareness. These signs will remain in place until final inspections and reports are completed.

Flea-borne typhus is a disease spread by infected fleas and can be prevented through simple steps such as avoiding contact with wildlife, securing trash to avoid attracting animals, and treating pets for fleas.

For more information and tips on how to protect yourself and your family, please visit the OCMVCD's website: ocvector.org/flea-borne-typhus

The health and safety of our community remains a top priority. We thank residents for staying informed and taking proactive steps to stay safe.
