The Chairperson of the African Union Commission, H.E. Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, this afternoon received members of the African Union Board of External Auditors (BoEA) and expressed his appreciation for their steadfast commitment to accountability, transparency, and financial integrity within the Union.
He underscored that sound financial governance is essential to strengthening the credibility, effectiveness, and global standing of the African Union-particularly at a time when the continent faces complex political and security dynamics, shifting geopolitics, and a reduction in international assistance that is impacting development efforts across Africa.
The Chairperson reaffirmed his full commitment to upholding the Board's independent oversight role and ensuring that its recommendations are implemented with diligence and seriousness.
The BoEA is the independent body mandated under Rule 97 of the African Union Financial Rules to audit the accounts of the African Union and its organs, with the core mission of promoting accountability, transparency, and good governance across the Union.
