Chipley, Fla. - Beginning Monday, March 30, the outside U.S. 98 eastbound right-turn lane to access State Road (S.R.) 295 (Navy Boulevard) will be temporarily closed. The temporary closure is anticipated to occur daily from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. for a period of five days, as crews remove guardrail and perform concrete curb and gutter work.
During the temporary closures, one U.S. 98 right-turn lane and all three U.S. 98 left-turn lanes will remain open to access S.R. 295.
Drivers are reminded that during construction, lane closures may occur Sunday through Thursday between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m.
This work is part of the $8.2 million S.R. 295 resurfacing project, from S.R. 292 (Barrancas Avenue) to S.R. 727 (West Fairfield Drive) in Escambia County. The project is currently scheduled for completion in late 2027.
All activities are weather dependent and may be delayed or rescheduled in the event of inclement weather. Drivers are reminded to use caution, especially at night, when traveling through a work zone and to watch for construction workers and equipment entering and exiting the roadway.
