The City of Fremont has once again earned national recognition for its commitment to public safety, ranking as the safest city in California in WalletHub's 2026 "Safest Cities in America" report. Fremont also ranked No. 14 nationwide among 182 cities evaluated.
The annual WalletHub study compared cities across 41 safety indicators in three key categories: home and community safety, natural disaster risk, and financial safety. Factors considered in the analysis included crime rates, traffic fatalities, unemployment, health insurance coverage, credit scores, and exposure to natural disasters.
Strategic investments in crime prevention programs, advanced technology, and tools such as the recently launched Real-Time Information Center (RTIC) have strengthened the Fremont Police Department's ability to proactively address public safety concerns and maximize resources. This recognition reflects the collective efforts of Fremont residents, businesses, public safety personnel, community organizations, and City staff who work together every day to maintain a safe, welcoming, and resilient community.
