ICANN's 2025 Nominating Committee Announces Leadership Selections

Today, the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) 2025 Nominating Committee is pleased to announce its selections for 10 leadership positions:

Those selected will begin their terms at the conclusion of the ICANN84 Annual General Meeting in October 2025.

About the 2025 Nominating Committee Applicants

The 2025 Nominating Committee received 106 completed applications during the application period from 14 January to 28 March 2025. Out of 106 applicants:

  • 37 percent were from Africa.
  • 25 percent were from Asia, Australia, or the Pacific Islands.
  • 16 percent were from Latin America or the Caribbean.
  • 8 percent were from Europe.
  • 2 percent were from North America.
  • 12 percent were citizens or residents of two or more regions.
  • 27 percent were female, and 73 percent were male.

The Nominating Committee is charged with recruiting and selecting a portion of ICANN's leadership. In doing so, the committee is mandated to ensure that ICANN's overall leadership is diverse in geography, culture, skills, experience, and perspective. Further, selectees should:

  • Have integrity, objectivity, and sound judgment.
  • Support decision-making within groups.
  • Work effectively in English.
  • Understand ICANN's mission.
  • Be committed to ICANN's success.
  • Contribute to cultural, professional, and geographic expertise.
  • Be able to work long and hard, generally as volunteers.

A Message From Nominating Committee Chair Amir Qayyum

The 2025 Nominating Committee is thankful for the numerous applications received. Although the committee can appoint only a few out of the large pool of highly qualified candidates, all applicants are encouraged to continue participating, as their involvement is critical to the Nominating Committee's selection process. The Nominating Committee wants to congratulate all the selected candidates, who passed through a long, rigorous and multiphase selection process.
