Tuscarawas County: Construction Update

Current and upcoming road closures and restrictions for Tuscarawas County are listed below. Click on each route to see the location at OHGO.com.

State Route 39 resurfacing project east of New Philadelphia: Work is set to begin Monday, August 25, on a project to resurface nearly five miles of State Route 39 from the eastern New Philadelphia corporation limit to Roswell. Traffic will be maintained with flaggers. The completion date is October 31, 2025.

Village of Sugarcreek Maple and Church Street improvements: A project to replace sidewalks along Maple Street and Church Street is underway. The project includes sidewalk work along Maple Street from Church Street to S. Broadway Street, and Church Street from W. Main Street to Maple Street. Throughout the project, Maple Street and Church Street will close to traffic while this work is being completed. Access to homes in this area will be maintained throughout the project. The completion date is October 31, 2025.

State Route 800 bridge repair project: A project to repair a State Route 800 bridge over the Tuscarawas River. One traffic lane is maintained via temporary traffic signals, with the roadway width restriction being 11 feet, and a 5-foot bike lane will be maintained. The completion date is September 30, 2025.

State Route 259 bridge repair project: A project to repair the State Route 259 (Schoen Brunn Drive) bridge over the Tuscarawas River, located just east of State Route 416. Throughout construction, traffic is maintained with temporary traffic signals. The width restriction on the bridge is 11.5 feet. The completion date is October 31, 2025.
