Greensboro Parks and Recreation Hosts National Parks and Recreation Month Events

The City of Greensboro's Parks and Recreation Department will host events to celebrate Parks and Recreation Month throughout July - building strong, healthy, and resilient communities through the power of parks and recreation.

This summer is the 41st anniversary of Parks and Recreation Month, which recognizes the more than 160,000 full-time parks and recreation professionals, plus hundreds of thousands of part-time workers and volunteers who maintain our country's parks and facilities.

Adult Recess

Barber Park, 1500 Barber Park Dr. | Friday, July 10 | 6-9 pm

Mark your calendars, arrange the babysitters, and rally your friends - Adult Recess is back. Adult Recess is a free, 21+ event that allows adults to be kids for a night. This year the event returns to the Barber Park Sprayground. There will be nostalgic playground games, a DJ playing all the old hits, food and beverage vendors, complete access to the sprayground, and so much more.

Movie in the Park

Hester Park, 3615 Deutzia St. | Saturday, July 18 | 8:15 pm
Join us as we celebrate Parks and Recreation Month with a free, family friendly movie under the stars with a viewing of "Zootopia 2." We will be joined by our friends with the Greensboro Police Department grill team serving up hot dogs fresh from the grill.

Summer Sunset Series

Lake Brandt Marina, 5945 Lake Brandt Rd. | Saturday, July 25 | 7-9 pm
Visitors are welcome to come out to the Lake Brandt Marina and take in a sunset over the lake, while also enjoying live music, food, drinks, and yard games. Participants are encouraged to bring their own lawn chair or blanket.
