The Alabama Farmers Federation welcomed two-time Auburn University graduate Isabella Gafanha to its Organization Department March 23.
As organization coordinator, Gafanha will support Young Farmers, Women's Leadership and county president programming. She'll also assist with the Federation's grassroots political action committee, Alabama FarmPAC.
"I am eager to bring my enthusiasm for agriculture and commitment to serving the community to the Alabama Farmers Federation," Gafanha said.
Gafanha graduated with her master's in meat sciences in 2025, building on a bachelor's degree in animal sciences. At Auburn, she worked in the Meats Lab and was a graduate research assistant and Extension instructor. She was a senator on the university's Graduate Student Council, coached the Quiz Bowl team and joined numerous animal sciences networks.
Gafanha has interacted with producers nationwide as an intern with the National Cattlemen's Beef Association Cattle Convention.
Federation Organization Department Director Matthew Durdin said Gafanha's deep appreciation for service and community will serve Alabama farmers well.
"Isabella's values, work ethic and enthusiasm for agriculture make her a wonderful addition to our team," Durdin said. "We are excited to have her on board and look forward to the contributions she will make."
A native of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Gafanha lives in Auburn, where she is an active member at Lakeview Baptist Church.
