The Windhaven Underpass construction project, which was completed in July 2024, has earned an Award of Merit in the Highway/Bridge category from the Engineering News Record Texas & Louisiana sub-region.
Sundt Construction Company began construction on the roughly $16.6 million project in Spring 2022. The project, which took more than 10 years due to challenges and federal approvals needed to construct around railroad tracks, includes 1,500 feet of divided roadway from Cookie Lane to Brown Knight Lane in East Lewisville, and a new 100-foot-long railroad bridge.
The road serves as a new connector to get from the Sam Rayburn Tollway in Lewisville to the Dallas North Tollway in Plano.
This project is part of the Corporate Drive extension project, the largest street project in Lewisville, not counting the TxDOT project along I-35E. Sundt Construction is now working on two additional segments of this project, with an estimated completion of Summer 2026.
