Chinese Embassy in South Sudan Holds 2026 Chinese New Year Reception

On February 5, 2026, the Chinese Embassy in South Sudan held 2026 Chinese New Year reception with the theme "Warm Welcome to Spring - Celebrating the Chinese New Year Together". More than 260 attendees included Chinese Ambassador to South Sudan Ma Qiang, South Sudanese dignitaries such as the Senior Presidential Envoy on Special Programs Adut Salva Kiir, Minister of Health Sarah Cleto Rial, Minister of Culture, Museums and National Heritage Sarah Nyanath Elijiah Yong, as well as diplomatic envoys to South Sudan and representatives of the overseas Chinese.

Ambassador Ma extended New Year greetings to the Chinese compatriots in South Sudan. He commended the contributions made by Chinese institutions and overseas Chinese to the development of China-South Sudan relations, reviewed the achievements in Chinese modernization, affirmed the continuous deepening of China-South Sudan strategic partnership, and expressed optimism for the broad prospects of bilateral cooperation.

On behalf of His Excellency the President, the Government and the people of the Republic of South Sudan, Honorable Adut Salva Kiir conveyed New Year wishes to Chinese citizens in South Sudan. She stated the willingness to further deepen friendly cooperation between the two countries in such fields as infrastructure, technology, oil and gas, trade and investment for the benefit of both peoples.

During the reception, Ambassador Ma presented "Chinese New Year care packages" to representatives of the Chinese compatriots in South Sudan. Performances such as lion dances and chorus by Chinese enterprises, overseas Chinese and peacekeeping personnel created a joyful and harmonious festive atmosphere.
