Central Texas Flooding Relief Efforts

Our hearts and prayers are with the victims, their families, and the survivors of the devastating flooding that occurred in Central Texas on July 4. League City has not been asked to provide any manpower to aid in the recovery efforts, but members of our community can help in a variety of ways.

Local Collection Drive

The League City S. Mike Lacey American Legion Post 554 has set up a collection drive at the post located at 1650 State Highway 3. Items can be dropped off daily from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Items needed include:

  • Non-perishable food items: protein drinks, Pedialyte and electrolyte drinks, non-perishable food items
  • Personal hygiene items: infant and adult diapers, wipes, bath towels, toiletries, under pants of all sizes
  • Exterior cleanup items: shovels, rakes, large contractor bags, work gloves, 5-gallon buckets, gas cans, ant spray, and mosquito repellent
  • Interior cleanup items: latex/nitrile gloves, heavy-duty spray bottles, push brooms, mops, squeegees, heavy-duty dust pans, sponges, paper towels, cleaning chemicals and disinfectants, mold/mildew chemicals

Monetary Donations

In addition, many agencies that are working in the impacted area are seeking monetary donations rather than physical items. The following are vetted agencies that you can donate to:

  • The Kerr County Flood Relief Fund, which was set up by the Community Foundation of the Texas Hill Country, is distributing donations to local organizations providing flood assistance, rescue, and relief efforts. Make an online donation
  • The Salvation Army of Kerrville is the official Texas Department of Emergency Management partner for coordinating all volunteer opportunities and in-kind donations. Make an online donation
  • Kerrville Pets Alive! is accepting donations to support their work rescuing and caring for animals impacted by the floods. Make an online donation

Thank you, League City, for your compassion and willingness to help the victims of this tragedy. Our hearts are heavy for the lives lost and the pain being felt across the region.
