FDNY releases new PSA about lithium-ion batteries and reminds New Yorkers about proper disposal

The FDNY released a new Public Service Announcement (PSA) on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, to remind New Yorkers about the proper disposal of lithium-ion batteries.

Rechargeable batteries that are found in micromobility devices and household items should never be thrown in household trash or recycling. It is illegal and dangerous.
