Announcement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the 80th anniversary of the founding of the United Nations (24.10.2025)

On this day, 80 years ago, on October 24, 1945, the Organization of the United Nations was founded with the mission of safeguarding international peace and security and promoting cooperation among states.

In the current unstable and unpredictable international landscape, with numerous conflicts across the world, the full and consistent implementation of the principles of the UN Charter is more imperative than ever.

Greece, as a founding member state of the United Nations and an elected member of the Security Council for the 2025-2026 term, has consistently supported the purposes and principles of the Organization, remaining firmly committed to the full respect of International Law and the protection of human rights.

We will continue to work systematically with all countries to address contemporary global challenges through dialogue and multilateral diplomacy.
