Warnock Statement on 200,000 Georgians Dropping ACA Health Care Coverage

According to the AJC, over 200,000 Georgia Affordable Care Act (ACA) Marketplace policyholders have dropped their coverage-a shocking 14% drop

The coverage loss is due to the Washington GOP's passage of the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, which allowed 1.2 million Georgians' health care premiums to double

Washington, D.C. - Today, U.S. Senator Reverend Raphael Warnock (D-GA) released the following statement after the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid revealed that over 200,000 ACA Marketplace policyholders have dropped their coverage. This number does not account for the hundreds of thousands of Georgians who've been pushed into new health plans with sky-high deductibles that effectively make their coverage unusable.

"This is what happens when Washington Republicans fight for billionaires and not ordinary people. Last fall, over one million Georgians logged onto Georgia Access to find that their health care premiums had doubled, for some, it had tripled or quadrupled. The numbers don't lie: Washington Republicans took away health care for hundreds of thousands of Georgians to give a tax cut to the wealthy. Ordinary Georgians need relief, and I'm going to stay in this fight."

Due to health care cuts allowed in President Trump and Washington Republicans' One Big Beautiful Bill Act signed into law last July, enhanced ACA health insurance tax credits have expired for Plan Year 2026. The expired enhanced ACA credits increased insurance premiums for ACA customers across the country, and millions nationwide are expected to drop their ACA insurance because of higher premiums. As a result, Georgia faces some of the steepest cuts to its health care sector in the country at $3.7 billion.
