STONY BROOK, NY, June 29, 2025 - Stony Brook University Hospital (SBUH) has been named one of the Best Hospitals for Geriatric Care in 2026 by Money, earning the No. 2 spot in New York State and ranking No. 16 nationwide.
The recognition highlights hospitals that demonstrate excellence in caring for older adults through specialized expertise, high-quality outcomes, patient-centered care and effective coordination of complex medical needs.
The 2026 rankings were based on four key components: geriatric specialization (40%), Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) quality and patient experience ratings (35%), overall hospital and physician quality (15%), and designations, accolades and certifications (10%). SBUH received the highest letter score for geriatric care - earning an A+.

Money's ranking methodology emphasizes hospitals that excel in managing age-related conditions and coordinating care for patients with complex medical needs.
