This multifaceted project, which broke ground in February, is poised to revolutionize the sports experience for our community. When complete, Rotary Sportsplex will make history as the first public park in Marion County to feature synthetic turf with the conversion of two primary soccer fields.
But the upgrades don't stop there. This massive facelift includes a brand-new paved parking lot, a modern pavilion, spectator-friendly stadium bleachers with shade structures, and cutting-edge LED field lighting, plus numerous other amenities designed for a premier park experience.
"So many kids will make their first goal and grow a passion for teamwork because of these fields," County Commission Vice Chairman Carl Zalak, III said during the donation's presentation.
"At AdventHealth, caring for the whole person extends into the communities we serve," said Erika Skula, AdventHealth Ocala President and CEO. "This partnership gives children a place to grow through sports and families a space to connect. We thank the county commission for supporting children's health and wellness both on and off the field."
The commitment from AdventHealth Ocala and its executive team will leave a powerful and lasting positive impact, especially on our vibrant youth sports community. Parks & Recreation Director Jim Couillard noted, "Partnerships like this supercharge our ability to deliver positive impacts in our community." Marion County is incredibly grateful for this landmark financial contribution and the chance to partner with AdventHealth Ocala to build a healthier future.
