Chinese Consul General in San Francisco Zhang Jianmin Attends the Send-off for San Francisco Students Embarking on China Journey

On June 12, 2025, Chinese Consul General in San Francisco Zhang Jianmin and his wife Zheng Xin attended the send-off ceremony for San Francisco students departing for exchange programs in Shanghai and Shenzhen. Attendees included San Francisco Mayor Daniel Lurie, Chief of Protocol Penny Coulter, Bay Area Council President Jim Wunderman, Sonoma City Council member Jack Ding, as well as participating students, teachers and parents.

Consul General Zhang highlighted the inaugural UN International Day for Dialogue among Civilizations and encouraged the students to experience and appreciate the rich heritage of Chinese civilization during their visit. Zhang also expressed the hope that the students' sincere and friendly exchanges and interactions would help enhance mutual understanding and trust between China and the United States and promote mutual learning among civilizations.

Mayor Lurie commended the students for taking part in the exchange and encouraged them to immerse themselves in new experiences, and record their journey. He called on them to share their stories after returning to San Francisco and act as "global ambassadors" to connect the city and China.
