Hagåtña, Guam - Governor Lou Leon Guerrero and Lt. Governor Josh Tenorio issue the following statements:
"Over the weekend, our island faced a dangerous situation that began in the village of Talo'fo'fo' leading to an islandwide manhunt resulting in the arrest of two wanted men. Thanks to the swift action, professionalism, and bravery of the over 130 Guam Police Department officers along with local and federal law enforcement partners, the primary suspects have been apprehended," said Governor Leon Guerrero. "We extend our heartfelt appreciation to every officer and agency involved in this successful operation. We are also deeply grateful to the people of Guam for your vigilance, cooperation, and care for one another during this time. Your support made a critical difference in helping authorities restore peace and maintain public safety."
"These incidents were deeply troubling, causing fear and concern across our island," added Lt. Governor Tenorio, who visited the Incident Command Center on Saturday evening and Sunday afternoon. "I am especially concerned for our people who were injured and terrorized by the assailants. We must guarantee that justice is served and that the maximum penalties are pursued against those responsible. To the remaining suspect, we urge you to do the right thing and turn yourself in. We encourage our community to aid the police by sharing any information that will result in the arrest of the third suspect."
"We want to thank all law enforcement and support personnel for their collective efforts. Our officers worked tirelessly away from their homes and families to protect our people and put an end to these heinous crimes. In challenging times, our strength as an island community shines through. Let us continue working together to uphold the safety, dignity, and peace that every resident of Guam deserves," added Lt. Governor Tenorio.
The investigation remains active. The Guam Police Department will continue to provide timely updates as new information becomes available, and we encourage the public to stay informed through official channels.
