City of Tulare Earns Prestigious Budget Award
Tulare, CA - In January, the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) recognized the City of Tulare with the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for its annual budget. This is the City's third year in a row winning this prestigious award.
The GFOA award is the highest form of recognition in governmental budgeting and reflects Tulare's commitment to fiscal transparency, accountability, and effective financial planning. The nationally recognized program, established in 1984, encourages state and local governments nationwide to produce high-quality budget documents that reflect best practices.
To earn this recognition, budget documents must meet strict program criteria and demonstrate excellence in the following areas:

- Financial planning
- Operational guidance
- Clear communication with the public

As part of the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award, the GFOA has awarded a Certificate of Recognition to the City of Tulare's Finance Department for its role in achieving this honor.
Per GFOA: GFOA established the Distinguished Budget Presentation Awards Program (Budget Awards Program) in 1984 to encourage and assist state and local governments to prepare budget documents of the very highest quality that reflect both the guidelines established by the National Advisory Council on State and Local Budgeting and the GFOA's best practices on budgeting and then to recognize individual governments that succeed in achieving that goal.
