American Beverage Statement on the Extended Producer Responsibility Legislation Passed in Maryland

WASHINGTON - Statement from American Beverage President and CEO Kevin Keane on the Extended Producer Responsibility legislation passed in Maryland:

"We thank Governor Wes Moore for his leadership in establishing Extended Producer Responsibility in Maryland that sets a strong standard for more effective collection of recyclables and protection of the environment. This program is another example of Governor Moore's efforts to build a stronger Maryland today and for the future.

"One of our industry's highest priorities is creating a circular economy for our containers so they can be remade into new ones as intended. Maryland's progress is an important step to improve bottlers' access to more recyclable material and, ultimately, reduce the use of new plastic."
