MBTA and Keolis Announce Spring/Summer Commuter Rail Schedules to Take Effect May 25

An adjusted schedule will be in effect from June 8 until July 12 on all lines to accommodate increased service for the 2026 World Cup.

Trains to and from South Station will also have dedicated schedules on the seven World Cup Match days.

The MBTA and Keolis Commuter Services (Keolis), the T's operations and maintenance partner for Commuter Rail, announced today that Spring/Summer schedules will take effect on the Commuter Rail on May 25.

From June 8 until July 12, an adjusted schedule will be in effect on all Commuter Rail lines to support increased service to Boston Stadium in Foxborough during the 2026 World Cup. Additionally, trains to and from South Station will operate according to dedicated schedules on each of the seven World Cup Match days: June 13 (as well as June 14), June 16, June 19, June 23, June 26, June 29, and July 9. The regular Spring/Summer schedule will then resume on July 13.

Spring/Summer Schedule Details

For the Spring/Summer schedule, there are no major changes to the current schedules for the Fairmount, Fitchburg, Greenbush, Haverhill, Lowell, and Needham Lines.

On the remaining lines, time adjustments that account for weather-related considerations during the fall and winter have been removed.

On the Fall River/New Bedford, Framingham/Worcester, Franklin/Foxboro, and Newburyport/Rockport Lines, schedules will be adjusted to improve operational reliability or reflect the completion of ongoing construction projects, including the new Foxboro Station. For these lines, several trains will depart more than five minutes earlier or later than the current schedule. Regular midday service to Foxboro Station will resume once construction of the new platform is complete.

All passengers are encouraged to check schedules for changes to specific trains.

World Cup Service Information

Boston Stadium Train tickets to the first five World Cup Matches are available now on the mTicket app for $80 roundtrip. The MBTA plans to run unprecedented service for the World Cup, mobilizing up to 20,000 riders across 14 trains per Match.

Compared to driving, parking, and event-day traffic delays, the MBTA Commuter Rail provides one of the easiest, most predictable, most affordable ways to get to and from Boston Stadium. Good for travel to the Match between South Station and Foxboro, Boston Stadium Train tickets are also good for unlimited travel across the entire Commuter Rail network on the day of the Match - throughout any Zone or Interzone where MBTA Commuter Rail trains travel. This expanded access across the Commuter Rail network allows soccer fans more flexibility and options in choosing where to stay to attend World Cup Matches.

Customers must have a same-day World Cup Match ticket to buy a Boston Stadium Train ticket. mTicket will require passengers to register the email that was used to buy their Match ticket during the ticket purchase process.

Boston Stadium Trains are the only MBTA service to Boston Stadium on Match days. There is no MBTA subway or bus service to Boston Stadium.

Additional station staff will be onsite at South Station and Foxboro to direct passengers with boarding, direct pedestrian flow, and answer questions.

Affordability Measures

Governor Maura Healey and Interim Secretary of Transportation and MBTA General Manager and CEO Phillip Eng announced a series of summer fare promotions and discounts on the MBTA Commuter Rail to lower costs for riders, support regular commuters, and encourage more people to choose public transportation as Massachusetts prepares for a busy season of major events across the state. This includes four promotions that will run on the Commuter Rail through June, July, and August, including Free Fridays, a 50% discount on monthly passes, and more. Monthly passholders will save between $321 and $639 over the summer, depending on their route.
