Enhancing Fishermen's Catch Productivity, PT Timah Provides Assistance to the Samudera Pesisir Group in Kundur

KUNDUR -- PT Timah Tbk once again demonstrated its commitment to supporting the welfare of coastal communities by providing assistance to fishing groups in the Riau Islands Province.

The assistance was given to the Samudera Pesisir group in Kundur Village, West Kundur District, to help complete fishing equipment such as boats, nets, and boat engines.

Chairman of the Samudera Pesisir Group, Samsul Bahri, said that the support from PT Timah Tbk was very helpful for them in adding fishing equipment. According to him, relying solely on their income from fishing was only enough to cover daily needs.

"The assistance from PT Timah is used to add fishing gear for group members such as shrimp nets, boats, and boat engines. This is exactly what the members needed," he said.

Samsul Bahri mentioned that with the support from PT Timah Tbk, they hoped to increase the catch of their members, which in turn could have a positive impact on their welfare.

"Thank you to PT Timah for supporting our group. This assistance will certainly improve our catch. May both our livelihood and PT Timah's prosperity continue to flourish," he added.

In addition to Kundur, PT Timah had previously provided assistance to the Tanjung Gunung Sejahtera Cooperative in Tanjung Village, Central Bangka Regency, to improve the welfare of fishermen.

Meanwhile, PT Timah Tbk's Department Head of Corporate Communication, Anggi Siahaan, stated that this assistance is part of the company's commitment to supporting community welfare, particularly fishermen.

"With this fishing equipment assistance, fishermen can increase their productivity, which will also impact their welfare. PT Timah consistently supports fishing communities through various programs, including providing fishing gear and employment social security (BPJS Ketenagakerjaan)," said Anggi.

This assistance program for fishermen aligns with the company's goals in carrying out its social and environmental responsibility (CSR/TJSL). In addition to supporting the fisheries sector, as a member of the Mining Industry Holding MIND ID, PT Timah is also committed to supporting communities in education, health, and other economic empowerment programs.
