Hagerty: Stefanik is right person for U.S. Ambassador to UN

WASHINGTON-United States Senator Bill Hagerty (R-TN), a member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, today strongly supported Congresswoman Elise Stefanik (R-NY), President Donald J. Trump's nominee to be the next U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations, at her confirmation hearing and asked her about her overall vision and goals for the United States within the UN.

"I'd like to just ask you a very broad [question], in terms of what your vision is for the U.S. mission to the United Nations, and in terms of our posture at the outset going in, and then where you'd like to see it four years later?" Hagerty asked.

"Thank you so much, Senator Hagerty. It is great to have worked with you over the past few years, and your expertise both having served as an ambassador in the first Trump Administration and your incredible work in the U.S. Senate on this committee. My vision is making sure that we're supporting President Trump's America First peace through strength agenda, that we are good stewards of U.S. taxpayer dollars, and that we return to the founding mission of the United Nations, which is international peace and security, very much aligned with President Trump's commitment to peace and no new wars," said Stefanik.

"I appreciate that very much and look forward to working with you," Hagerty said.
