Denver, CO - Denver Human Rights & Community Partnerships (HRCP) and Ireland Stapleton Pryor & Pascoe, P.C. are proud to announce the return of the Monte Pascoe Civic Leadership Award, reviving the distinguished recognition for the first time since 2022 through a collaborative effort during the firm's centennial year to honor Monte Pascoe's enduring impact on Denver.
The Monte Pascoe Civic Leadership Award, established in 2006, honors the legacy of Monte Pascoe, attorney, civic leader, and one of Ireland Stapleton's founding partners. Throughout his life, Pascoe exemplified civic engagement, public service, and courageous leadership. Among his many accomplishments, he led the successful legal battle, ultimately before the U.S. Supreme Court, to desegregate Denver Public Schools, helping build a more equitable future for Denver.
"As Ireland Stapleton celebrates its centennial year, we wanted to honor not only our firm's history, but the civic leadership that has helped shape Denver," said Kelley Duke, Managing Director of Ireland Stapleton Pryor & Pascoe, P.C. "Monte Pascoe exemplified a deep commitment to community, and we are thrilled to revive this award in his honor. Special thanks go to Director Tom Downey, whose vision and tireless work with the City and County of Denver have been instrumental in bringing this award back to life."
Presented annually by the Mayor of the City and County of Denver for nearly two decades, the Monte Pascoe Civic Leadership Award recognizes individuals whose leadership and service have strengthened communities throughout Denver.
"Denver has always been shaped by people who choose to step forward and serve their communities and Monte Pascoe was one of those leaders," said Mayor Mike Johnston. "His commitment to justice and public service helped make Denver a stronger city, and as we bring back this award, we honor not only his extraordinary legacy, but also the leaders who carry that spirit by strengthening our communities and helping create opportunity for every Denver resident."
Nominations for the 2026 Monte Pascoe Civic Leadership Award will be accepted through Wednesday, August 5, 2026. The recipient will be recognized during Ireland Stapleton's Centennial Celebration on September 10, 2026, at the Denver Art Museum.
