Chandler solicits nominations to…

Sept. 23, 2025

CHANDLER, Ariz. - Chandler is expanding the Field of Honor Veterans Memorial at Veterans Oasis Park to feature a recognition wall celebrating local veterans.

Eligible nominees must have been honorably discharged from the U.S. military and lived within the Southeast Valley (Chandler, Tempe, Mesa, Gilbert, Queen Creek, San Tan Valley, or the Gila River Indian Reservation). The recognition wall will display the veteran's name, rank and branch during their time of service.

"The Field of Honor is an impactful and meaningful destination for our community," said Community Services Director John Sefton. "We are honored to enhance the memorial by incorporating our local veterans' names as we commemorate their sacrifice and service."

Nominations are being accepted on the Field of Honor webpage. Applications require basic information about the veteran, proof of Southeast Valley residency and proof of their military service. A $50 minimum donation is required for approved nominations.

Plaques will be updated several times throughout the year, and nominations will remain open while space is available.

The Field of Honor Veterans Memorial, constructed in 2021, honors veterans from all branches of the U.S. military. The design reflects the American Flag, with columns of various heights forming its stars and stripes, which glow red, white and blue at night. Inspired by the ideals of freedom, recognition, reflection, sacrifice, memories and family, the spectacular tribute is a testament to American patriotism. The site also features a Korean War-era fighter plane, a tribute to the legacy of Arizona's Williams Air Force Base.

The Field of Honor Veterans Memorial is located on the southwest corner of Veterans Oasis Park, 4050 E. Chandler Heights Road. Questions about the Veterans Memorial may be directed to [email protected] or call Recreation Services at 480-782-2727.
