January Free Waste Event: Mercury Month!
Not sure how to safely dispose of items containing mercury? We are here to help!
Acceptable items to drop off for free include: Fluorescent Bulbs, Thermometers, Thermostats, and Button Batteries.
This free waste drop off event starts January 7, 2026 and lasts throughout the month of January 2026.
Wednesdays 7 AM - 1 PM
Fridays 7 AM - 1 PM
Saturdays 8 AM - 3 PM
Convenience Center (330 East Britannia Street)
Proof of residency required
No commercial waste
No box trucks
Extra holiday bonus: while these don't contain mercury, the City is collecting string holiday lights too! Don't trash those old broken lights, bring them to the City's Convenience Center on free waste days in January.
