Thursday, July 3, 2025- Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Dr. Varsen Aghabekian Shahin, received at the Ministry's headquarters in Ramallah the Ambassador of the Republic of Türkiye to the State of Palestine, Mr. Ismail Çobanoğlu.
The discussions focused on the latest political developments in light of the ongoing Israeli genocide against the Gaza Strip and the worsening humanitarian situation resulting from the systematic crimes being perpetrated against the Palestinian people.
Minister Shahin emphasized the importance of strengthening bilateral cooperation with Türkiye and called for convening a new round of political consultations at the earliest opportunity, as well as activating the joint ministerial committees to address priority issues of mutual interest.
The Minister also discussed with the Turkish Ambassador the mechanisms for facilitating the evacuation of Palestinian students from the Gaza Strip who have been granted scholarships to study at Turkish universities. She reaffirmed the Ministry's readiness to provide all possible support to enable them to join their academic institutions as soon as possible.
For his part, Ambassador Çobanoğlu reaffirmed Türkiye's longstanding and unwavering support for the Palestinian people. He strongly condemned the policies of forced displacement and reiterated his country's firm rejection of all attempts to undermine the Palestinian cause. The Ambassador also underscored the importance of maintaining international support for UNRWA, particularly in light of the systematic targeting and challenges the Agency continues to face.
