On Friday, October 24, the Washington and Lee Law Review held its annual celebration of student scholarship, the Student Notes Colloquium.

Each year, the Law Review staff writers, as second-year law students, write an article on an issue of current interest in the law. The editorial board of the Law Review evaluates the submission, choosing the two most outstanding notes to receive awards the following year. This year's winners are Alex Hudson '26L and Tina Pham '26L.

Hudson was awarded the Roy L. Steinheimer Law Review Award for her note "Voices from Beyond the Grave: Protecting the Audio of Murder Victims through (Intellectual) Property Law." Commenting on Hudson's note were W&L Law professors Chris Seaman and Josh Fairfield.

Professor Josh Fairfield comments on the scholarship of Alex Hudson '26L.

Hudson is from St. Augustine, Florida, and attended the University of Florida for her undergraduate degree. She serves as Managing Editor for the Law Review. During law school she has worked as a legal intern with Coca-Cola Beverages Florida and as summer associate with Alston & Bird in Charlotte.

Pham received the W&L Law Council Law Review Award for her note "Education as a Right, Homelessness as a Crisis: The Displaced Futures of American Homeless Youth." Commentary on her work was provided by W&L Law professors Catherine Smith and Alexi Pfeffer-Gillett. Matthew Shaw, a law professor at Vanderbilt and former scholar in residence at W&L also provided commentary.

During law school she served as a judicial intern for the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit and a summer law clerk with the California Department of Justice.

These articles, along with other student notes, will be published in an upcoming volume of the W&L Law Review and will also be available online at https://lawreview.wlulaw.wlu.edu/.

If you know a W&L student who has done great, accolade-worthy things, tell us about them! Nominate them for an accolade.
