MONT ALTO, Pa. - Graduating seniors on the Penn State Mont Alto Woodsmen Team recently received letters of commendation from Pennsylvania State Rep. Chad Reichard recognizing their first-place performance at the 2026 Mid-Atlantic Woodsmen's Meet and their contributions to the program.
In his letters, Reichard congratulated the graduating seniors on both their championship victory and their graduation from Penn State Mont Alto. He praised the students for their dedication to the forestry profession and recognized their contributions to Pennsylvania's future workforce.
"These students showcased the strength of Mont Alto when they took first place. I congratulate them, and all graduating students, on their achievements in and out of the classroom," Reichard said. "I wish them the very best as they embark on reaching their dreams in the professional world."
The students receiving letters of commendation were Calvin Wagner, Samuel Watts, Joseph Vogelsong, Garrett Worth and Reese Fedder, all forestry majors, along with Danielle Gebler, a psychology major who also competed as part of the championship team.
Penn State Mont Alto claimed first-place overall honors at the 2026 Mid-Atlantic Woodsmen's Meet, continuing the campus's long tradition of excellence in collegiate woodsmen competition. The annual event challenges students in traditional lumberjack and forestry events that demonstrate technical skill, teamwork, precision and professionalism, reflecting the hands-on learning experiences that have long distinguished Penn State Mont Alto's forestry program.
