Lansing, Mich. -Congressman Tom Barrett (MI-07) today announced he is nominating 16 high school seniors from across mid-Michigan to the United States service academies.
"I'm truly honored to nominate these exceptional young men and women from mid-Michigan to attend our U.S. service academies," said Barrett. "During my 22 years in the Army, I saw firsthand the importance of having capable, devoted leaders, and I believe these nominees have what it takes to become the next generation of officers tasked with defending the United States of America. Each of them has demonstrated strong character, dedication, and a sense of service to our great nation. I am deeply grateful to these future leaders for stepping forward and wish them the best as the process plays out."
In consultation with a nonpartisan advisory group of local service members, veterans, and community leaders, Barrett nominated the following students from Michigan's 7th Congressional District to attend the U.S. service academies as part of the Class of 2030:
U.S. Military Academy
U.S. Naval Academy
U.S. Air Force Academy
U.S. Merchant Marine Academy
