The Kingdom of Bahrain hosts the 86th Meeting of the Committee of the Central Bank Governors of the GCC (16 February 2026)

Manama, Bahrain - 16 February 2026: As part of the Kingdom of Bahrain's chairmanship of the 46^th session of the Gulf Cooperation Council, His Excellency Khalid Humaidan, Governor of the Central Bank of Bahrain, chaired the 86^th meeting of the Committee of Central Bank Governors of the GCC, held today in Manama. The meeting was attended by HE Jassim Mohammed Al-Budaiwi, Secretary General of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf along with Their Excellencies the Governors of the central banks of the GCC member states.

During the meeting, the Committee discussed several key topics related to enhancing cooperation among the GCC member countries, including the recommendations of committees and working groups on payment systems, supervision and oversight of the banking sector, and financial technologies in the GCC. The Committee further discussed the exchange of cybersecurity information within the banking sector, as well as efforts undertaken by GCC member countries in the field of combating money laundering and terrorist financing.
