Barnes & Noble Opens New Store in Knoxville10/20/2025

Author Holly Renee to Host Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony and Book Signing at the Grand Opening at 9AM on Wednesday, October 8th, 2025

Knoxville, TN - October 1, 2025 -Barnes & Noble is thrilled to announce the opening of its new Knoxville, TN bookstore on Wednesday, October 8th.

The new Barnes & Noble will be Knoxville's second location and offer nearly 15,000 square feet of books, toys, games, magazines, gift items and more, as well as a B&N Café. The new Knoxville Barnes & Noble is located in Pinnacle at Turkey Creek (11334 Parkside Dr., Knoxville, TN 37922), near Michaels, in the former Party City space.

The new Barnes & Noble bookstore will officially open to the public at 9AM ET on Wednesday the 8th, with bestselling author Holly Renee cutting the ribbon and signing copies of her books, including her 2022 release, A Kingdom of Blood and Betrayal.

"The ongoing growth in book sales as a whole, and particularly for Barnes & Noble, allows us to open new bookstores at a pace we have not achieved in decades," said James Daunt, CEO, Barnes & Noble. "That we are able to open so many new Barnes & Noble bookstores across the country - including this, our second in Knoxville - is a testament to the appetite for physical bookstores. Our Turkey Creek booksellers are eager to welcome customers into their brand-new Knoxville Barnes & Noble."

Barnes & Noble is enjoying a period of tremendous growth as the strategy to hand control of each bookstore to its local booksellers has proven so successful. The bookseller is experiencing strong sales in its existing stores and has been opening many new stores after more than 15 years of declining store numbers. In 2024, Barnes & Noble opened more new bookstores in a single year than it had in the whole decade from 2009 to 2019. The bookseller expects to open over 60 new bookstores in 2025.

The Knoxville location is one of eight new Barnes & Noble bookstores set to open in October, alongside new stores in California, Connecticut, Florida, Idaho, and Louisianna. Each grand opening has drawn enthusiastic crowds that wrap around the building, filling the store as the ribbon is cut.

The design of the Knoxville store showcases the ambition of Barnes & Noble to create exceptional local bookstores that marry the best traditions of independent bookselling with the resources of the historic chain. The new Knoxville Barnes & Noble will cover roughly 15,000 square feet, including a café, and carry all the best books, as well as a wide range of toys, games and the usual paper and gifting items found at Barnes & Noble. It will also house a new B&N Café.

"We are so excited to be bringing another Barnes & Noble to Knoxville, right in the heart of Pinnacle at Turkey Creek," said Store Manager James Lafferty, Barnes & Noble bookseller of six years. "We can't wait to see smiling faces, both new and old, that are ready to start this next chapter with us!"
