HANNIBAL - The Missouri Department of Transportation will be surveying and locating utilities as it prepares for the Kingdom City to Warrenton segment of Improve I-70.
This work will require closures of the I-70 right shoulder in several locations in Callaway and Montgomery counties and may require some excavation work to locate the existing utilities.
Weather permitting, the work will run the week of June 1 through June 5 between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m.

This work is part of the sixth project in MoDOT's Statewide Improve I-70 Program. Improve I-70: Kingdom City to Warrenton is a $581 million Design-Build project that will improve the 44-mile stretch of I-70 between Kingdom City and Warrenton and is anticipated for award in late 2026. Construction is tentatively set to take place from 2027-2030.
Missouri's FY2024 budget, approved through the state legislative process and signed into law by the governor, provides $2.8 billion in General Revenue to build a third lane in each direction on nearly 200 miles of I-70, from Blue Springs to Wentzville.
