Wailua Mauka Bridge complete closure on Sunday, Sept. 27
Posted on Sep 23, 2026 in Highways News, Main, NewsLĪHUʻE, Hawaiʻi - The Hawai'i Department of Transportation (HDOT) notifies highway users of the complete closure of the Mauka Wailua Bridge on Sunday, Sept. 27, from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. for paving. Two-way traffic will be maintained utilizing the Mayor Bryan Baptiste Memorial Bridge, (Plantation Bridge), with one lane in each direction.
The paving work is part of the Wailua Bridge Repairs Project. The final stage of striping has been delayed due to Hurricane Lowell. The project is expected to be completed in mid-October 2026.
Variable message boards have been posted along Kūhiō Highway to alert road users. To view scheduled Kauaʻi lane closures for the week visit https://hidot.hawaii.gov/highways/roadwork/kauai/
