Statement by the High Representative on behalf of the EU on the alignment of certain countries with Council Decisions (CFSP) 2025/1096 and Council Implementing Decision (CFSP)[...]

On 27 May 2025, the Council adopted Decision (CFSP) 2025/10961amending Decision 2013/255/CFSP concerning restrictive measures in view of the situation in Syria and Council Implementing Decision (CFSP) 2025/1095 of 27 May 2025 implementing Decision 2013/255/CFSP concerning restrictive measures in view of the situation in Syria2.

The Council decided that all sectoral restrictive measures should be lifted, with the exception of those based on security grounds. It also decided that the regime should be extended until 1 June 2026.

Moreover, the Council decided that the entries for 22 entities should be deleted from the list of natural and legal persons, entities or bodies subject to restrictive measures set out in Annex I to that Decision, as well as the entries in Annexes II and III. Additionally, the Council decided that the entries for 302 natural persons and 50 entities set out in Annex I to that Decision should be updated and amended.

Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Moldova (Republic of), Montenegro, North Macedonia, Norway, Serbia and Ukraine align themselves with these Council Decisions.

They will ensure that their national policies conform to this Decision.

The European Union takes note of this commitment and welcomes it.
