byRisk Project - Newsletter 4

As part of its mission to inform and raise awareness among data controllers, data processors and the public about personal data protection legislation, the Hellenic Data Protection Authority (HDPA) is bringing the European byRisk project (https://byrisk-project.eu/) to completion.

The project's main objective remains to support small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in effectively identifying and analysing risks associated with the processing of personal data, as well as to enhance public awareness and understanding of data protection and privacy issues.

The first three newsletters successively captured the progress of the project: the first newsletter presented its launch, the methodology and findings of the research on the needs of small and medium-sized enterprises, the second the development of the risk taxonomy and the design of the framework and key functions of the risk identification tool, while the third focused on the development progress of the tools, the awareness strategy of the target groups and the implementation of the specialized seminars.

The fourth and final newsletter presents the main results of the project, focusing on the two digital tools developed for risk assessment by small and medium-sized enterprises and awareness raising among the general public. At the same time, it presents the completion of the ten webinars, with a total of 526 participants from the four target groups of the project, the dissemination actions of the results, as well as the prospects for the continuation of the utilization and further development of the tools after the completion of the project.

Finally, it includes a reference to the international online workshop organised on 4 November 2026, on presenting the main results of the project and exchanging experiences and good practices with other data protection authorities and European organisations.
