A ninth red bulb has been added to the wreath by Escambia County Fire Rescue during "Keep the Wreath Green" following a residential structure fire Sunday, Dec. 28.
Escambia County Fire Rescue responded to a mobile home fire in the 5500 block of N. Century Blvd. at approximately 8:49 p.m. Sunday, arriving on scene to find flames and smoke coming from a mobile home. Firefighters worked quickly to bring the fire under control by 9:19 p.m. No one was injured in the fire, but the home sustained significant damage and is a total loss.
The Bureau of Fire and Arson is investigating the cause of the fire. The Flomaton Fire Department and Jay Volunteer Fire Department provided assistance during the response.
During the month-long "Keep the Wreath Green" fire safety campaign, five-foot wreaths will be on display at 18 county fire stations and five city fire stations, as well as Escambia County's Ernie Lee Magaha Government Building downtown, the Escambia County Public Safety Building, Pensacola City Hall and Cordova Mall. Each time firefighters respond to a residential or commercial fire with damage, a green light bulb will be replaced with a red one to remind citizens of the dangers posed by fires in residential and commercial buildings.
