Waco officially broke ground on Alice Martinez Rodriguez Park on Saturday, October 4. Thank you to everyone who came to kick off the construction for the new park.
The $25 million investment will reimagine 30 acres of land along Clay Avenue (near the former Floyd Casey Stadium). Once complete in fall 2026, the park will be a destination where people of all abilities can play, connect, and enjoy.
The park will feature:
Former councilmember Alice Rodriguez.
Traditional mariachi performance.
Alice Martinez Rodriguez Park is a legacy project that honors former Councilmember Alice Rodriguez, other local Hispanic leaders, and Hispanic heritage.
Alice Rodriguez is a dedicated public servant who began her tenure in 1991 and has served the community on City Council for over 26 years. Her lasting impact on the city includes significant work on projects such as the Cotton Palace Ballfields, the Floyd Casey Housing Development, the Hispanic Heritage Trail Taskforce, and the Hispanic Heritage displays at the South Waco Library.
As the construction equipment moves in and the work begins, we look forward to fall 2026 when this vision becomes reality.
