Renowned pianist Sir Stephen Hough plays Dallas Morse Coors Concert Series

The Dallas Morse Coors Concert Series (DMCCS) at Cornell University welcomes acclaimed pianist Sir Stephen Hough to Bailey Hall for a performance on Friday, March 20 at 7:30 p.m.

The DMCCS is thrilled to welcome Sir Stephen Hough, one of the most distinctive and versatile artists of his generation, for an unforgettable evening of virtuosic piano performance. A polymath celebrated for his achievements as pianist, composer and writer, Sir Stephen was the first classical performer ever awarded a MacArthur Fellowship and was recently knighted for his contributions to the arts. With a career featuring collaborations with the world's leading orchestras, numerous international awards, and more than sixty recordings, he has long stood at the forefront of classical music's most compelling musicians.

In his upcoming concert, Hough will bring together a strikingly imaginative program that journeys through the lyricism of Schubert and Brahms, the modernism of Schoenberg and Stockhausen, and the virtuosity of Beethoven's Waldstein Sonata. After intermission, he will turn to Schumann's "Carnaval," followed by an irresistible musical nod to popular culture: the "Mary Poppins Suite," arranged by Hough and Robert Sherman. The program showcases the extraordinary breadth of an artist equally at home in Romantic masterworks, 20th-century innovation, and his own inventive reimaginings.
