LUBBOCK -Repairs on the Erskine Street bridge, at I-27 in Lubbock, are scheduled to be completed on Thursday, Jan. 30. All lanes are expected to open. The next bridge location undergoing maintenance and repairs is the I-27 bridges at the interstate frontage road crossover in southern Hale Center.
Weather permitting, crews will begin setting barricades on the bridges Thursday. The operation will take place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and will require both the north- and southbound I-27 bridge to be closed to traffic. Motorists will be detoured onto the frontage road.
While the repairs are being made to the bridges, traffic in both directions will be reduced to one-lane.
The I-27 bridges are part of a $1.9 million project to replace bridge joints and bearing pads, make concrete repairs and upgrade the guardrail fencing on the bridge structures. Work on all bridges is scheduled to be completed in late-2025.
