Lane, ramp closures start Oct. 1 for M-55 bridge repairs at US-127

GAYLORD, Mich. - The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) will invest $297,311 to make repairs to the substructure and deck of the M-55 bridge over US-127 near Houghton Lake. Crews will return in spring 2027 to seal the concrete surfaces on the bridge.

Traffic restrictions:
This work will require lane closures on M-55 with traffic shifts, as well as temporary closure of the westbound M-55 loop ramp to southbound US-127. During this ramp closure, westbound M-55 traffic will be permitted to turn left onto southbound US-127, just west of the loop ramps. The project will also require lane and shoulder closures on US-127.

This project will extend the service life and preserve the structural integrity of this bridge.
