On the fourth anniversary of Russia's unjustified and brutal aggression against Ukraine, the Italian Government reaffirms its solidarity with and support for the Ukrainian institutions and people. Over the last four years of the Ukrainian people fighting to defend their freedom and independence, Italy has consistently ensured its constant and firm support together with its European and Western allies.
Italy contributes with determination to the international efforts to foster a just and lasting peace. In this regard, the Government supports and accompanies the negotiation process promoted by the United States and participates in the activities of the Coalition of the Willing to define solid security guarantees for Ukraine. Resolution of the conflict is a priority strategic interest for Europe, essential to guarantee the Continent's, and therefore Italy's, security.
Italy is also paying particular attention to the urgent humanitarian needs of the Ukrainian people. A programme to supply generators and boilers to support Ukraine's energy system is currently underway, which is crucial for civil resilience. In parallel, an initiative has been launched to provide healthcare equipment to maternity and paediatric wards at hospitals in the areas worst affected by the attacks.
These humanitarian efforts are a prerequisite for the nation's future reconstruction work, in which Italy is playing a leading role, as can be seen in its organisation of the Ukraine Recovery Conference in July 2025.
On this basis, the President of the Council of Ministers, Giorgia Meloni, today addressed the Coalition of the Willing leaders' meeting via video link.
The goal remains to create the conditions for the Ukrainian people to be able to live in peace with full respect for sovereignty and territorial integrity. The Government will continue to contribute to the international community's efforts towards this objective.
