Suspect Arrested, Another Sought in December Shooting at 8118 Martin Luther King Boulevard

January 9, 2025- Houston police are asking for the public's help in locating a suspect wanted in the shooting of a man at 8118 Martin Luther King Boulevard about 6:55 p.m. on December 20, 2024.

The suspect is described only as an unknown black male, 30 to 40 years of age, thin build and has a low haircut. He is known to ride a bicycle in the area. Surveillance photos of the male a few days after the shooting are attached to this news release.

Another suspect, Darius Michael White, 24, is in custody and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in the 208th State District Court. A booking photo of White is attached to this news release.

The victim, 40, was transported to an area hospital in stable condition.

HPD Major Assaults Division Detective M. Bellahna reported:

HPD patrol officers responded to an assault call at a convenience store at the above address and found the victim lying on the sidewalk. He had suffered a gunshot wound. Houston Fire Department paramedics transported the victim to a hospital.

A preliminary investigation determined the victim got into an altercation with unknown suspects. The incident escalated to a physical fight and, at some point, one of the suspects shot the victim. The suspects fled the scene prior to officers arriving.

Additional investigation identified one of the suspects as White and he was arrested on December 31 on an unrelated charge. The Harris County District Attorney's Office was consulted and White was subsequently charged for his role in the incident. The suspect in the photos (shooter) remains at large.
