The Donald P. Klekamp College of Law at the University of Cincinnati has launched a new partnership with National Chengchi University (NCCU) in Taiwan. The partnership is the college's first in Asia and will open the door to new opportunities for faculty and students on both sides. The collaboration includes a dual degree agreement allowing NCCU law students to spend one of their years of study in Cincinnati earning their LLM in US Law. While in Cincinnati they will gain firsthand experience with the U.S. legal system, expand their global perspective, and perfect their legal English-all of which are skills that will make them highly desirable by legal employers.
"We take immense pride in our international partnerships, which bring academically talented students into our classrooms for a world class legal education, while enriching the educational experience our JD students receive. We are delighted to add National Chengchi University to that network - Taiwan is an important and dynamic legal market, and this is a partnership that will bring both institutions great benefits for years to come," said Haider Ala Hamoudi, Dean and Nippert Professor of Law.

The Institutional Collaboration Agreement and an Activity Agreement were signed earlier this year. Nora Burke Wagner, assistant dean for international and graduate programs and Director of the LLM Program, represented the College of Law.
"Our international strategic partnerships are the driving force behind our successful internationalization initiative, and it's long been a goal to add a partner in Asia," said Assistant Dean Wagner. "NCCU has a terrific reputation, and it has been wonderful to work with their leadership to build this partnership."
The agreement establishes a pathway for students to earn a dual degree. Participants will complete one year at NCCU in either its bachelor's or master's law program while also earning an LLM from the University of Cincinnati. Graduates of the program will receive degrees from both institutions. This partnership also creates a strong foundation for future collaboration, opening new opportunities for students and faculty.
The UC Klekamp College of Law (formerly the University of Cincinnati College of Law) has built a strong network of international partnerships over the years. These collaborations help expand global reach, strengthen recruitment pipelines, and enhance the College's international reputation.
"Once students become familiar with our program, they are far more likely to choose Cincinnati for their LLM, especially in today's complex global environment," said Wagner. "Applicants from our partner institutions matriculate at nearly a 100% rate, and their academic performance is consistently strong."

Founded in 1927, National Chengchi University (NCCU) is a leading institution in Taiwan with 12 colleges spanning disciplines including law, commerce, social sciences, international affairs, and communication. Founded in 1833, the University of Cincinnati Donald P. Klekamp College of Law is the fourth-oldest law school in the United States, behind only Harvard, Yale, and the University of Virginia. With a legacy of producing influential leaders in government, the judiciary, major law firms, Fortune 500 companies, and non-governmental organizations, the Klekamp College of Law is also a pioneer in legal education. It was the first law school to establish a center dedicated to the study of international human rights and is home to one of the most successful Innocence Projects globally, working to combat wrongful convictions. Training lawyers for nearly two centuries, the law college remains steadfast in its mission to provide a top-tier legal education that inspires students to pursue justice and advance the role of law in society.
