City of Henderson Animal Protection Removes More Than 40 Animals From Unsafe Conditions

Animals Are Now Receiving Care and Will Be Available for Adoption Soon

HENDERSON, Nev. (April 16, 2026) - The City of Henderson Animal Protection Services (APS) removed more than 40 animals from a home near Galleria Drive and Eastgate Road after responding to a call regarding unsafe and unsanitary conditions.

Upon arrival, APS officers identified 40 animals being housed in unsanitary and neglectful conditions. Species included dogs, cats, turtles, birds, ferrets and other animals.

Officers also determined a nonprofit organization for animals was operating from the residence in violation of City ordinances. APS officers took custody of the animals from the property.

All animals were transported to the City of Henderson Animal Protection facility, where City veterinary staff immediately began medical evaluations and treatment. Several animals required urgent care for a range of conditions, including contagious diseases. All animals are receiving care, stabilization and close monitoring.

The individual responsible for the conditions will be cited under City ordinances. The investigation is ongoing, and the total number of animals involved may change as additional information becomes available.

The City of Henderson wants to remind residents that local ordinances are in place to support responsible pet ownership, including limits on the number of animals allowed per household. These standards are designed to protect animal health and welfare and support safe, humane care.

All rescued animals will be made available for adoption through the City of Henderson Animal Protection facility or partner rescue organizations as they are medically cleared.

Residents are encouraged to visit cityofhenderson.com/adopt for updated information on animals available for placement as they become ready.
