GENTEXT/REMARKS/1. Situation. IAW the reference, Marine Aviation
Weapons and Tactics Squadron One (MAWTS-1) will host the annual
Commanders Course and Reblack on 3-5 February 2026 at MAWTS-1,
Marine Corps Air Station Yuma, Arizona.
2. Mission. MAWTS-1 prepares Aviation Combat Element (ACE)
commanders and prospective ACE commanders; updates Weapons and
Tactics Instructors (WTI) and Flight Leadership Standardization
and Evaluation (FLSE) program coordinators on current weapons,
tactics, and issues affecting their specific community; and provides
a forum to exchange information, promote standardization, and
maximize operation effectiveness.
3. Execution.
3.a. Commanders Intent.
3.a.1. Purpose. To prepare prospective and current ACE commanders
for command and provide WTIs, FLSE program coordinators, and all
interested fleet aviators updates to their communities.
3.a.2. Method. Commanders Course and Reblack will provide lectures,
discussions, and breakout groups on important aviation topics.
3.a.3. End State. Attendees are better prepared for command and
informed on current weapons and tactics and issues affecting their
specific communities.
3.b. Concept of Operations. MAWTS-1 conducts the course at MCAS
Yuma once per FY.
3.c. Coordinating Instructions.
3.c.1. Eligibility.
3.c.1.a. Commanders Course: All current and prospective commanders
for aviation commands and all former O-5 and O-6 commanders from
the aviation community.
3.c.1.b. Reblack: All Commanders Course attendees and all WTI
course graduates.
3.c.2. FY26 Course Dates:
3.c.2.a. Commanders Course: 3-4 February 2026.
3.c.2.b. Reblack: 5 February 2026.
3.c.2.c. Travel days are 2 and 6 February 2026.
3.c.3. Registration. Registration will be done through the
MAWTS-1 SharePoint site:

3.c.3.a. Registration for either Commanders Course, Reblack, or
both is due NLT 26 January 2026. Point of contact is the
MAWTS-1 Academics Department Head.
4. Admin and Logistics.
4.a. Security Clearance.
4.a.1. Minimum clearance is TS/SCI for Commanders Course. Send
clearance information via DISS visit request to SMO code: 012431A53.
4.a.2. Minimum clearance is SECRET for Reblack. Send clearance
information via DISS visit request to SMO code: M00328.
4.b. Personal Electronic Devices
4.b.1. Portable Electronic Devices (PEDs) are not authorized in
MAWTS-1 buildings 406 or 510. This includes Personal Wearable
Fitness Devices (PWFDs), even if approved at other secure locations.
Examples of PWFDs include but are not limited to:
Fitbits, Oura rings, and Garmin devices, or smart watches.
4.b.2 Medical Personal Electronic Devices (MPEDs)
are also not authorized. Examples of MPEDs include but are not
limited to hearing aids, diabetic pumps and pacemakers.
If an MPED is necessary for the visitor, they can coordinate with
the SSO for preapproval before entering MAWTS-1 classified spaces.
Please contact the MAWTS-1 SSO team at [email protected] to
request an exception to policy for an MPED.
4.b.3. If a VIP (GO or SEL or their staff) is bringing a personal
MCEN asset into the MAWTS-1 building, the MAWTS-1 S-6 will be staged
during check-in and check-out to screen all devices.
4.c. Each attendee arranges their own billeting. Billeting is
available at Marine Corps Hospitality Services: (928) 269-2262.
Additional facilities may be available in town at the
government rate.
4.d. Funding.
4.d.1. Attendance is unit funded. There is no CID
associated with this Course.
4.d.2. Uniform: Woodland MARPAT utilities or green flight suit.
