COLUMBUS-The Ohio House of Representatives today passed House Bill 471, legislation to designate a section of Interstate 275 in Hamilton County as the "Deputy Larry Henderson Memorial Highway."
Deputy Henderson served with the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office for 33 years before retiring in 2024. He was tragically killed in the line of duty on May 2, 2025, while assisting with traffic control during the University of Cincinnati's commencement ceremony.
A devoted public servant, Henderson was known for his integrity, compassion, and humor. He was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, and foster father. His commitment to his community did not end with his retirement; he continued to volunteer his services to the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office.
"The Deputy Larry Henderson Memorial Highway will be a constant reminder for Ohioans and everyone who travels on the highway that we are grateful for Deputy Henderson's service to Hamilton County, and we will never forget," said Abrams.
The designation will be located near District 5, where Deputy Henderson served much of his career, and will serve as a reminder of his service and sacrifice.
HB 471 now moves to the Ohio Senate for further consideration.
