The University of Tennessee System is revising Board Policy BT0006 to implement HB 2194 (Public Chapter 761), which addresses how tenure decisions and disciplinary actions for faculty misconduct are distinguished in public higher education.
The purpose of this brief survey [
https://forms.cloud.microsoft/r/9xMt3efJ0e] is to gather faculty perspectives in advance of the upcoming Faculty Senate meeting scheduled for
Tuesday, May 12th, 4:00 - 5:00 pm central time, where Chancellor Peter Buckley and Chief Academic Officer Cindy Russell will engage faculty in discussion about the implementation of HB 2194 into BT0006. Faculty input through this survey will help shape and focus our conversation at the Faculty Senate meeting, ensuring it reflects the issues, priorities, and recommendations most important to our faculty.
Your responses will help us focus on your collective perspectives as to:
-
Strengths of the legislation that should be preserved or reinforced in policy,
-
Concerns that may merit mitigation, and
-
Guidance that UT System should consider as revisions to BT0006 are developed.
The survey has been designed for you to provide constructive, qualitative input that will help guide discussion with the Chancellor and Chief Academic Officer at the upcoming Faculty Senate meeting. It is focused on policy language, safeguards, and implementation choices, not outcomes already decided (HB 2194 has been signed into law).
Survey responses are anonymous; no identifying information will be collected, and individual responses will not be attributed. Responses will be summarized and used to inform our discussion with the Faculty Senate.
Thank you, in advance, for sharing your perspectives that will help to guide an informed and constructive dialogue.
