Washington, DC, March 23, 2026 - The National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) and 4AIR, a leader in aviation sustainability solutions, today announced a strategic partnership to expand and strengthen NBAA's Sustainable Flight Department Accreditation Program. The announcement was made prior to the start of the 2026 NBAA Schedulers & Dispatchers Conference (SDC2026) in Cleveland.
NBAA's Sustainable Flight Department Accreditation Program, launched in 2022, has been evaluating and recognizing business aviation organizations for their efforts to make flights, operations, ground support and infrastructure more sustainable.
4AIR will help NBAA deliver and scale the accreditation program and continue to encourage organizations to take a comprehensive approach to environmental responsibility.
"This program allows flight departments and businesses to demonstrate sustainability progress and leadership while helping move business aviation forward together to meet our industry's unified goal of achieving net-zero carbon emissions in the years to come," said NBAA President and CEO Ed Bolen. "We are excited to partner with 4AIR and tap into their sustainability expertise to make the Sustainable Flight Department Accreditation Program even better."
"At this stage in aviation's sustainability journey, leadership is defined by structure, data and accountability," said Nancy Bsales, COO of 4AIR, "Partnering with NBAA on this accreditation reflects a shared belief that meaningful progress comes from practical frameworks that help flight departments embed sustainability into everyday operations - not just talk about it."
Through this partnership, 4AIR will provide technical oversight, industry data validation and sustainability expertise to enhance the program's rigor and credibility. The collaboration enables NBAA to scale the program while maintaining the transparency and measurable outcomes that the industry needs.
The partnership underscores a broader shift within the sector toward verified, data-driven sustainability strategies, positioning accreditation not as an endpoint, but as part of an ongoing commitment to responsible aviation, 4AIR said.
Three dozen leading companies have earned the NBAA Sustainable Flight Department Accreditation, including American Express, Coca-Cola, Gulfstream, Humana, Pfizer, Target, Textron and Whirlpool.
