EU Closing Statement at the 68th Regular Session of the IAEA General Conference, 20 September 2024

President,

On behalf of the EU, let me express our sincere thanks to you for your able and skilful stewardship that has allowed to bring the 68^th session of the IAEA General Conference to a successful conclusion. We also thank the whole team of the Republic of Korea for their great cooperation before and during the Conference.

Through you, President, I would also like to extend our sincere appreciation to Mr. Jan Lodding from Sweden for chairing the Committee of the Whole. And we thank the Secretariat, the interpreters and Conference services for supporting our work during the last five days.

President,

This session has resulted in tangible outcomes in various areas of the Agency's mandate and reaffirmed our collective support for the work carried out by the Director General and IAEA staff.

As sponsors of two important resolutions at this General Conference, the EU and its Member States remain strongly committed to strengthening the IAEA's safeguards system and global nuclear security. We will continue our efforts to promote gender equality and the empowerment of women in all IAEA activities.

In conclusion, the EU would like to thank all Delegations who worked for the successful outcome of this General Conference.
